I have been studying sports psychology for over 15 years, and practising, applying and integrating it into my coaching style. With a work and life change in January 2005, I took the opportunity to study sports hypnosis - and soon realised how relevant it was to effectiveness of most applications of sports and performance psychology. After gaining my DHyp(S) I decided to study for full qualification in general hypnotherapy. I wanted to make a difference in people's lives, not just for my sporting clients but for people in all walks of life. I attained my Diploma early in 2007 and whilst continuing my many sporting commitments started working as a practising therapist and performance coach in earnest. In autumn 2007 I set up a programme of one-hour stress-buster group sessions, designed to help clients learn about the benefits of correct breathing, find their own "Calm Place" and discover the efficacious benefits and relaxing pleasures of trance.
In February 2008 I finished writing "Don't Think of a Black Cat - A Basic NLP Toolkit for Coaches and Performers". Aimed primarily at the sporting fraternity the book gives a basic understanding of NLP, communication, language and applications, using practical examples and exercises. This is available online and is also published in paperback worldwide.
My next book is now under way, framed around case studies of practical mental preparation for performance and skills acquisition. This is aimed at readers from a wide variety of performance perspectives from business to sport, music and stage to student examinations.
Currently as part of my CPD I am studying and using Clean Language in both therapeutic and performance contexts as well as further investigation into Non-Verbal Language. I also plan to continue studies into proper breathing and use these trainings to help educate people to improve and enhance their life, health and wellbeing.
For an in-depth explanation of how I see Hypnosis, NLP, Clean Language and allied techniques and strategies being able to make a difference in your life, visit my website and read the various pages that deal with a lot of common issues. If you also read the articles on "What is Hypnosis" and "Self Hypnosis" you will get an idea of how my therapy programmes are structured and what you can expect every step along the way.
